      A really solid compilation of avant-garde artists (primarily Russian based, but some German as well), with a focus on "art for the state" in many of the pieces compiled. I was honestly really surprised how well this read, as I had assumed it would primarily just be photographs of the various pieces mentioned throughout the work itself. But yeah, it does an outstanding job really explaining a lot of the beliefs these artists held and the objective of their art. I think there is kind of a misconce [...]

      Checked out this exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago of interwar leftist artists who worked in Central and Eastern Europe.The book's pretty good too; it was a superb birthday present.It's like staring into the future through a time capsule.
