      I'm happy to see I've reached level 5, with no idea what that means! Heaven and hell ruled by the same laws as Chinese bureaucracy, a world of monsters with amazing powers, and a few of them being enlightened in spite of themselves, a teary monk who can't do anything for himself and is yet some kind of hero, a mixture of the tao, confucious, buddhismis was an immense and immensely revealing surprise.       Amazing read! What an adventure, full of whimsy and most times satirical depiction of human follies. I can see why this story is a classic.No doubt in this Penguin Reader edition the language is simplified somewhat for younger readers, but the story is left intact. I enjoyed this book very much and am considering getting the unabridged version.
