Once upon a time, a middle-aged couple named Ken and Jillian Vickers rented a cozy cottage overlooking Lake Tahoe in hopes that a weekend away would revitalize their marriage. The plan worked so well that they bought the cottage. But it was far too small to accommodate their children and grandchildren, so on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, it sat empty.Ken suggested renting it out for those holidays, which made financial sense to Jillian. But after several seasons, an unusual pattern e [...]

All three stories in this Christmas anthology were sweet and heartwarming, making it a great, light, holiday read. While I enjoyed all three stories, the first two were my favorites. All three stories take place in a cabin on Lake Tahoe.Vicki Lewis Thompson's contribution to the anthology, The Thanksgiving Fix, brings Beth to the Lake Tahoe cabin to have a secluded holiday away from her matchmaking family. Handyman Mac is called to the cabin by the owners, and he is dreading a holiday fix up the [...]

Holiday Hideout is a collection of three short stories that take place over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. All three stories are connected in that they all take place in the same cabin, owned by Jillian and her husband who believe the cabin has magical powers to make people fall in love. To test the theory, they rent the cabin out to collect as many date points as they can to prove their theory. I loved that all the stories were linked like that!My favorite story was definitely the firs [...]

I loved the first two stories and enjoyed the last one but not as much. My favourite was the first one which had great characters, the cabin described so cosy and welcoming (I wanted to be there), humour and romance. I thought it was great idea to have all three sexy stories based at the same romantic cabin but at different times.'The Thanksgiving Fix' by Vicki Lewis Thompson 5*'The Christmas Set-Up' by Jill Shalvis 4*'The New Year's Deal' by Julie Kenner 3*

I really enjoyed the combined-three Christmas stories with different authors. My only regret was that they ended much too soon. The romances were all connected by their use of the same secluded cabin near Lake Tahoe. The cabin has mysterious effects on all the couples. The love scenes sizzle and you just enjoy being a fly on the wall taking in the entertainment. A fun read!

Good book. I liked the idea of a cabin where people fall in love. The stories were all enjoyable, they were just a little too short for me - not enough time for a really good character and story development.

The Thanksgiving Fix by Vicki Lewis ThompsonMy rating for this story: AMy Review:I really enjoyed this novella. The story is about two people, Beth and Mac, who connect on Thanksgiving Eve based upon the fact that they can commiserate that they are both so tired of people trying to fix them up. They are both very happy and fulfilled to be single and don't want any more fix-ups. What they don't realize (at first) is that their meeting is a fix-upd it turns out to be a good one because they have u [...]

I enjoyed all 3 stories.Thanksgiving Fix by Vicki Lewis Thompson Owners Jill and Ken made a leak under the sink at her cabin, so Beth would call their handyman Mac. They were both single and she thought they would make a great couple. Plus Beth was in no hurry to get married and would be great for their experiment paper on the magic of the cabin to strenghten couples.Beth is [...]

I loved this book! Anthologies seem to be my favorite. The stories are always fulfilling because you read them fast and don't have to stop right in the middle of a story usually. This one was no different. Each story was well written and the characters were well thought. And i think the part i liked best was that all three stories were connected by the cabin where all three couples feel in love. The first story, The Thanksgiving Fix was my favorite. Beth and Mac were such a great couple. Mac was [...]

Ugg. I was excited to read this a month before Christmas and boy was I disappointed! First of all, I must admit part of my displeasure was brought on by myself considering I'm not a huge fan of novellas, but hey I was in the spirit of Christmas! My real reason for disliking the book is very simple. Yes, I love fiction, but when fiction takes that ridiculous turn I mean come on Two people aren't looking for anything more than hot sex and good friendship, that is tangible in such a short amount of [...]

Highly enjoyable holiday anthology. The short stories were tied together and full enough not to feel like they were lacking by being so short. I am a sucker for holiday stories and I really like anthologies this busy time of year.

Home Away From Home for the HolidaysIn a cozy cottage overlooking Lake Tahoe, married sociology professors from University of Nevada rekindled the romance in their rocky marriage. It was such a tremendous experience for them that they bought the cottage and rented it out when they weren't using it. After several letters left by thankful renters, the professors noticed a trend.Rocky relationships were smoothed, new relationships were kindled, and love was a rental agreement away for the lucky cou [...]

This book was pretty much what I expected for a Blaze Holiday anthology. Short, steamy stories. The first (VLT's) was good, if a bit unbelievable. I don't really buy the "just met him yesterday, now I'm madly in love with him and want to marry him" story lines, but it was a good read anyway.Jill Shalvis' story was my favorite. I like the fact that the couple had a history prior to the story at work, which made it more believable. My one complaint was that I would have liked a short epilogue to wr [...]

I enjoyed the stories by Vicki Lewis Thompson and Jill Shalvis, but I couldn't get into the third story and ended up skipping it. None of these stories are revolutionary or amazing, but they're nice and comforting.

Here I am again, reviewing an anthology--a confirmed don't-want-to-read-anymore-anthologies reader, but being drawn to one that features at least two of my favorite authors. What can I say? I thought it looked really good and so I got it, and when all is said and done, I'm glad I did.A quiet, out-of-the-way mountain cabin in the Lake Tahoe region was the scene of a marriage reclaimed by Ken and Jillian Vickers. They rented it, of course, and their renewed marriage meant so much to them and was s [...]

"Holiday Hideout" is a collection of three holiday-themed short stories penned by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Jill Shavis, and Julie Kenner respectively. It's the kind of heart warming read that bases itself in a bit of a vantage point scenario - three couples, three different holidays, one cabin and quite a bit of hooking up. The stories themselves are as warm as the steady fire that burns in the cabin, and I enjoyed what it had to offer. The first story in the collection is "The Thanksgiving Fix" by [...]

This is a cute romance anthology written by three of Harlequin’s leading authors. All three stories are set in a “mystical”, Lake Tahoe cabin owned by college professors Ken and Jillian Vickers. The “mystical” part involves couples falling in love when they stay over. As part of their research, the Vickers are trying to prove that the cabin indeed brings romance to people’s lives. In order to do this, they rent out the cabin throughout the holiday season. In the first story…The Than [...]

To add to my little holiday self party I decided to pick up this anthology and read it in under 12 hours, now whether this was due to me hiding from my book club's next book or because it was so good we will probably never know. However I did truly enjoy these stories. The Thanksgiving fix was super cute, and super steamy. I love the anti-ma [...]

All three of the stories are sweet and light hearted. I enjoyed all the stories, but I must admit, the first one was my favorite! The Thanksgiving Fix shows that the old adage is true, ‘love will find you when you are least expecting it.’ The story is a lovely, fast paced read that endears the characters to the reader! The Christmas Set Up infused just the right amount of humor in the story. A cute collection of holiday stories--I liked the premise, that a remote cabin could *magically* bring couples together. The three authors did a decent job with it, though interestingly enough, it was the author who I already knew and liked (Julie Kenner) whose story I felt was the weakest of the three. It wasn't bad, it just didn't seem as cohesive as the other two--for one thing, Cleo's turnaround seemed abrupt and without a real trigger for it just didn't seem clear what made her change her m [...]

Loved the idea of a cabin for rent for the holidays where couples connect or re-connect. The biggest problem, was of course, the length. These stories were too short to be believable. Things happened too fast and there wasn't enough detail to really enjoy the characters or situations. I am a fan of Jill Shalvis, so her portion disappointed me the most. For example here are some really amateur mistakes:pg 140: "a hot shower would have to do. Only when he made his way to the bathroom, he saw that [...]

First featured at Whitnage.Blogspot Okay, the premise for this anthology is that the cottage at which all of the couples wind up staying at, seems to give couples the push needed to revive a relationship or confess their feelings for one another. Normally I'd roll my eyes and move right on down the book aisle. But my logic takes a hike where Christmas is concerned and as they say: It's the most magical time of the year. So with that in mind, I gave Holiday Hideout a chance and was very pleased w [...]
