      Having read the other books about the Powell family, I became enchanted with their lively, loving nature. I especially liked Lucy. I can easily relate to her desire to remain free and independent, however, I think it's an unrealistic dream for her time. Lucy is a very modern woman in a nineteenth century novel.       This was a charming little story. I really enjoyed it. Looking back, not too much really happens, it's just a pleasant love story about Lucy and Phillip.Lucy is panicked when she learns the Duke of Lathrop wants to marry her, sight unseen.
