Camelia is a fourteen year old orphan. Her parents were killed in automobile accident and her Aunt walks out on her. Camelia is all alone with no money and no guardian. She has no one to turn to except her estranged grandparents in South Dakota. How is she going to get to South Dakota with no money? Besides she is too young to travel alone. Then she meets Bear her next door neighbor. Bear is going on one last ride to the big Harley riders' meet in Sturgis, only thirty miles from her grandparent' [...]

3.5 starsI have to admit, I was a little concerned before I started this book. Why? Because the whole "going-on-a-road-trip-and-seeing-what-happens" thing has been done so very many times. Sometimes well, and others - well, not. That said, I was happily surprised. Of course, the characters had their reasons for wanting to go on this trip, and they accomplished what they set out to do, even if things didn't always go just right.Be aware that this isn't a faced-paced, grab-you-by-the-shirt kind of [...]

A slow-paced novel that does not offer much thrill for those seeking vampires, werewolves etc and/or sex scenes. No such things here - this was for me quite a relaxing read about a ride through a couple of US states on bikes (which was to me really interesting and convincing), with decent characters I actually might care about in real life. The main characters were written quite plausible, and I liked the humour. The only complaint might be a constant use of present tense, not so common in novel [...]

I won this book through a Library Things giveaway.First of all grab your tissues and everything you need for a long read. I couldn't put this book down. The characters of Bear and Camelia, grab a hold of you and bring you right into the story. A 14 yr old girl and her older "biker" neighbor are thrown together for a cross country trip to find Camelia's grandparents. Through out their trip they are tested at every stop. I haven't cried because of a book in years.

I honestly wasn't to sure about this book when I picked it up but I'm so glad I decided to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The friendship between Camelia and Bear develops quickly and is very sweet in nature. I've only ridden a motorcycle twice in my life but this book made me want to go for a ride. Vivid descriptions and characters with real depth kept me reading late into the night. A bit of a tear jerker and a bit of adventure make for a great mix that I definitely recommend.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.I didn't love this book. I didn't dislike this book. I did take a verrrry long time to read this book. I'm not certain why. The characters are likable enough, but something about it just didn't grab my attention. I would recommend you read it if you like tear jerkers and come to your own conclusions.

I liked the premise that the story was based on and thought that I would really love the book.Unfortunately I found the whole thing dull and extremely slow. NOTE - I won this book in exchange for a review.
