I didn't enjoy this book as a child, and rereading it to my 2 year old granddaughter didn't like it now either. HOWEVER, if you are wanting a good book to help explain how a seed works and give you some ideas for small children then you can read this book to them. It's not necessarily a 'storybook' but more like a Science book with a little bit of little boy explaining mixed in. It's a boring book if you are using it for a storybook, but it would be agreat one for a Science book for younger list [...]

My 2 year old is very interested in seeds, planting, and how things work. Though the first 'overview' page of each chapter is repetitive, this book seems like it would be good for a learning reader, as well as good for an attentive toddler curious about how things grow.Good illustrations and different steps showing how seeds start.

Read with the boy-o this weekend. It has held up over the years. A great one to read aloud with kids who have questions about plants and how things grow.

It's a little boring, but I could see it working. It's educational and children are able to put themselves in the place of Benny. The illustrations are very charming as well.

This is a very easy read but it does do a decent job of explaining how seeds work. Plus it has illustrations by Tomi Ungerer.

The book does a nice job of applying the seed lessons directly to Benny's experiments. Charming illustrations by Tomi Ungerer. Bought at library book sale on Cape Cod.
