Fascinating material, although a bit repetitive at times. I can't get over how much Vernon's writing sounds like my grandfather. I now need to pick up some books on the history of WWII.Of course, I have a personal reason for appreciating this book; Vernon's mother was the sister of my 2nd great grandmother, thus making Vernon my first cousin three times removed and the authors (Vernon's nieces) my second cousins twice removed.

Interesting read from a different perspective than all other WWII books and movies.
