      This book is my introduction to this fairy tale. Do other Grimm tales have only animals (no humans)? I wish Byrd hadn't chosen to dress the birds, bear, and other animals in human clothing! (Unless, of course, Grimm said that all of the critters wore clothes.)

      I thought this would end up being the story of the battle between birds and beasts. And while there is that, here, it doesn't focus on the bat, which is a common central character. This is just a story about a bear talking smack about some baby birds and the horrific war that commenced.rather a good commentary on the reasons behind war, actually's kind of interesting that the fox is highlighted as cunning, thus making you think the beasts may become the victors, but the Grimm's turn that around [...]
