Basically if you're a Buffy fan then this book is for you - but make sure you get the special package edition. The casing and visual aspect are astounding! It comes with an extra packet full of reprinted spells, drawings, and ancient texts all from the prop department and all from main episodes of the show. Some of the information wasn't all too new to me since I've been obsessed with this show since it ended, but there was tidbits here and there that I had no idea of and just gobbled them up. A [...]

A great overview of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, with lots of background info and fun facts. I'm especially thrilled about the listings of the comics set in the Buffyverse, in chronological order and whether they are considered canon or not.

I'm the biggest mess in the world. I cried throughout the entire book.

A worthy read for Buffy fans, rich with insight and interesting facts. A bit too much plot summation for my preference, but gorgeous photos and sketches and a trove of backstory.

First off all this book was visually gorgeous - at least if you got the same version as me - housed in a red case formed as a leather book in itself, it has a black cover embossed with a silver Buffy logo and a great Buffy quote on the back. I absolutely loved this. I also loved all the extra little "reproductions" of documents from the series - of course, they couldn't exactly be matched in genuine *texture*, but still, they provided lots of new little details about the Buffyverse I hadn't noti [...]

Let me sing my love for this book from the hilltops! This is an excerpt of the full review at The Fault in Our Blogs (there are pictures of this decadent book at the link as well)Okay, so because of Capstone research, I’m currently waist-deep in Buffy literature and scholarship. This was a sort of afterthought which I added to my cart on when I saw it recommended for me. And I’ll be honest, I didn’t really read the description or synopsis. I just knew that I needed to know all I could abou [...]

Buffy: The Making of a Slayer by Nancy Holder is an official guide to the television series that ended nine years ago. This book was written and published in celebration for the 15th anniversary (at the time it was written). And it was written by Nancy Holder who has written many tie-ins to the series, solo and co-written work.I was thrilled at the announcement of this book. I knew all to well that it wouldn't let me down. And I was as right as you could get. I read in less than a day, because t [...]

I have read pretty much everything about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I was really excited when this book came out because I am fan of Nancy Holder and her novels. I bought it on pre-order and I was so excited to get it in the mail. First of all, the packaging is beautiful. The volume looks extremely expensive and it comes with a folder of amazing reproduced documents from the show like pages from the Watcher's Diary, Willow's hand-written spell she uses to restore Angel's soul and blue-prints [...]

I picked this up yesterday from Dark Delicacies and had it signed by the author, Nancy Holder (very nice woman). Amber Benson (Tara from Buffy), Camden Toy (one of the men behind the monster makeup on Buffy), and Todd McIntosh (one of the main makeup men on Buffy). Then I brought it home and read the book over the course of the next couple hours. The book is highly informative, well written, and easy to get into. I couldn't put it down! Not only is the book broken down by following Buffy's life t [...]

Over all, an enjoyable read. In addition to the information about the "Buffy" series, there are a few tidbits about other projects Joss Whedon has worked on. Great bonuses, if you love all of his work (as I do), but may be confusing for any folks who haven't followed his career. Some of the additional information will or has quickly dated itself (such as current projects of "Buffy" alumni), but that's not why a fan would pick up this volume. The bonus information is great, though not all necessa [...]

I really enjoyed this book but there were a few issues that held it back from five stars. Firstly, by the end of the book it felt more like a plot summary than a behind the scenes which has left me with a bad taste in my mouth (and completely undermines the fantastic first half). Secondly, the book's structure consists of each chapter having an overarching explanation/analysis of an aspect of Buffy. Then individual spreads looking at special aspects e.g. 'Hush' are spliced in. But they are splic [...]

I was working at Electronics Boutique when a new game arrived, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I joined in with the rest of the employees, poking fun about how they made a game from something so lame as Buffy. I decided to sign the game out for a few days, so I could see just how bad it really was. A week later I had purchased Seasons 1 and 2 of the show on DVD.The title of this book is a bit of a misnomer. While there is some making of and behind the scenes stuff, the majority of the book as a synops [...]

If you are a Buffy fan, but not a hardcore fan (binge-fests, watched all the extras on all the dvds, in a FB Buffy group) this book is enjoyable. Hardcore fans know all this stuff-or at least most of it. It is overpriced, so borrow it, get it used, or use whatever way you use to get books cheap or free.

The props which came with the book are very good (except for the shadow men), but the book itself was a disappointment. The design is gorgeous but the author made a lot of mistakes (like saying that the school explosion took place in the 2nd season).Still a great addition to everyone's Buffy collection!

    15. Jamie on said:

Good book for any Buffy fan. I expected more behind the scenes photos and information so that was disappointing. The book was basically just a summary of the series. However it was well written and put together.

    16. Erin on said:

EXCELLENT! I loved all the background info on the show, as well as trivia regarding Joss Whedon. The replicas of props from the show made this set complete, and as a diehard fan, I couldn't be happier.

    17. Bethany Ransom on said:

I loved this! The book is really nice quality and interesting for anyone who loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The little reproductions from the show that came with the book were a really nice bonus. I do believe there was at least one mistake she wrote about the episodes though.

    18. Matthew Gauvain on said:

The replica stuff was cool and it was awesome to relive my "Buffy Phase" but some of the info in the summaries of the episodes were wrong. Beyond that it was great.

    19. Angela on said:

Awesome pictures & commentarya must-have for any Buffy collector. However, there was no unknown facts or trivia revealed which I hadn't already known.

Fantastic book. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole lot of it. Blissfully back in Sunnydale for a short while

    21. Kirsty on said:

Nice enough but nothing really all that new to me so wish I hadn't wasted my money

    22. Ryan on said:

Nice retrospective, and the book design (complete with reproductions of spells and texts from the series) is top notch.

    23. Matt Wood on said:

It's only downfall is that it had to be written by Nancy Holder. They should have picked a better writer, maybe some team from the actual show who understands what they're writing about.

    24. Ralph Carlson on said:

An excellent read for anyone interested in the Buffy universe.
