BLACK and WHITE and DEAD ALL OVER written by Michael BradleyBrian Wilder is a big-time journalist who has returned to his hometown. He runs the Newark Observer and keeps his patrons up-to-date on what is happening in their community. Because moving an old family home is important news in a small community, he and his star photographer, Jessica, go to cover the event. The property being moved belongs to a politically influential and savvy family, The Chandlers. David Chandler is a local representa [...]

Brian instantly becomes engrossed with identifying the deceased person. As more information is uncovered, Brian finds himself in the middle of a twenty-two year old buried secret that involves politicians, greed, and a missing teenage girl, Mary. Jealousy, love triangles, high-profile politicians, reporters, and murder. All of this put together made for a short, but excellent murder mystery. You will be kept guessing up until the very last pages who murdered Mary Fleming twenty-two years ago when her body ended up in the basement of a house being moved off of its foundation. I received a free copy of this novel for my honest review. Brian Wilder thought it was another mundane day at work. Reporting on the move of the old Chandler house, a rather boring story to his photographer Jessica, Rimdale Commercial bought the property and were also to move the house to a vacant spot. Somehow Brian was determined to make it interesting and informative to his readers. As the hydraulic jacks began lifting the house, the foundation began crumbling. The machines were stopped, as t [...]

Giveaway Ends 1/3/2013 on lrjohnson13/2012/The book portrays an excellent murder mystery full of intrigue, love triangles, and jealousy. The book as a whole is fast-paced with an interesting storyline and compelling characters. While the drama unfolds the characters each have their own uniquely defined role that helps to move the story forward and create their individual personalities. My only criticism would be that the story started off a little slow and was hard to get into, although once the [...]

It was hard to get invested with the story at first Maybe because mystery isn't my usual genre But once the mystery starts progressing, you feel more attached to the mystery. It was a great story - loved the climax (except it did seem a tad easy to get confessions). My only negative is that the story seems all over the place in areas - it's hard to tell where one scene ends & another begins - it just jumps around. Overall - a really good read.

Solid start to what I am glad to see is planned to be a series. The characters are likeable and near and dear to my heart, being married to someone who spent the first seventeen years or so of his post-graduate life in the newspaper business. I am very much looking forward to seeing where Brian Wilder's curiosity takes him next, and whether he is ever able to make uneasy peace with his own personal burdens. I'm rooting for him!
