kellisreviews/201This beautifully written period romance struck a chord with me. I am eager to find out if there are similar books by Callie Hutton as her storytelling is wonderful.Set in 1817 England, American Meredith Chambers, governess to two young orphans, takes the children to their new guardian, The duke of Penrose, David Worthington.Simply being American is enough to upset Penrose, but it only gets worse when he learns that his new wards have had a carefree childhood thus far and are ill [...]

3.5 stars. This was a fun little Christmas historical romance between a duke and an American governess. Penrose was arrogant, but not a complete jerk. His duty kept him from having fun, which Merry, the heroine, helped him rediscover. I really liked Merry, what with her love of life and her attachment to her charges. Speaking of her charges, I loved Clare and Charlotte, the girls whom Merry was governess to. I thought they added a nice touch to the story. I also liked Penrose's mother the schemin [...]

This is a delightful story that was a very enjoyable read. David Worthington, Duke of Penrose, as been given custody of two children after the tragic death of their parents. Meredith Chambers has been their governess in America for many years and brings them to England to be cared for by the Duke. She wants to remain as the children's governess, but David feels Meredith is not the right person for the job and wants to dismiss her. David's mother on the other hand decides to hire her to continue [...]

I was drawn in and felt like part of the story from the beginning. Grinning throughout. What a humorous, heartwarming romance. I was swept back in time during the regency and fell in love with Duke Penrose. A feel good romance that captured my heart!

Meredith is an American young woman who has been the governess for 2 young English girls. When their parents die, the girls are sent to live with their guardian, the Duke of Penrose. He has plans. He will hire an English governess who will train the girls to become young ladies who will be presented to the ton and make good impressions while doing it.He does not approve of Americans and he definitely does not approve of a young woman who speaks her mind. This is a very short and humorous story. M [...]

I liked this book up until almost the end. Miss Merry is the governess for two young English Ladies. Their parents have recently passed away and Miss Merry is delivering the girls to their new guardian. I loved that Merry is an American who intellectually understands the English class system but doesn't agree with it. Of course that causes instant sparks to fly between her and the duke, the girls' guardian. What I didn't like was the premarital relations near the end of the book. It was a charmi [...]

What a fun read "Miss Merry's Christmas" is! In this delightful historical romance, the Merry in the title, Meredith Chambers, is charged with taking two little girls, the daughters of a couple she came to know and love before their deaths, to their new guardian, the Duke of Penrose. He's the perfect example of English stiff-necked aristocracy; she's the independent American who's not very impressed with stiff-necked aristocrats. Of course, they're attracted to each other. Their love story unfol [...]

Miss Merry's Christmas by Callie Hutton is a great holiday read. This book is fairly short, a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. Miss Merry's Christmas is well written and packed with awesome characters, drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Callie Hutton. Miss Merry's Christmas is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

DelightfulThis is a wonderfully sweet story even though it has sex scene which is touching rather than salacious. I loved this story. Duke meets American girl who is governess to his new wards. He fires her as he doesn't believe she can teach the girls proper etiquette. The Duke's mother hires her as a companion and the sparks start to fly between the Duke and the governess. Do yourself a favor and buy this book. Quick read.

MISS MERRY'S CHRISTMAS by Callie Hutton. Callie is one new author that I really love. All of her books are great. This one was sweet, sexy, loving and caring story. It has a feisty American governess/friend, an English snotty governess, a total Hottie Duke, 2 orphaned young girls, a roguish brother and I super Dowager Duchess with a eye to her son's heart and will use dishonest means to make him fall in love. This book get 3 fingers up and 8 toes.

A completely sweet little piece of fluff. Hutton follows the Regency romance formula to a T: beautiful headstrong American governess arrives at the estate of a handsome headstrong duke with no use for headstrong governesses. Romance blossoms. A bodice is ripped. A misunderstanding threatens to tear the lovers apart. All is reconciled. And they lived happily ever after.

This short fluffy romance novella is a pleasant piece of brain candy that provided an entertaining evening's read. The otherwise interesting story seemed to fall apart toward the end--that bit about the sexy dress at the Christmas party seemed both out of character and stupid and from that point on, I have no idea what was the author thinking--apparently she wasn't.

    20. Silver James on said:

Miss Merry's Christmas is a fun, holiday read. Merry is an engaging heroine and David is properly gobsmacked by the feisty American. As a regency, there is the usual misunderstandings and hurt feelings before the Christmas ball but in the end, Merry and her Duke get their HEA.

Downloaded this for free for my Kindle. A piece of holiday fluff. I never expect much from a romance other than loads of drama, but this story disappointed me with the way it fizzled out in the end. So much potential conflict was avoided, and Miss Jennings is so insipid that you never doubt the story's happy resolution.

    22. Joan on said:

This was a fun interesting book. I liked the strong willfulness of the main character and how she took no nonsense from the "hero". She was a good example to her charges and kept them safe. The characters are fun and easy to like, the story falls into place at a good pace and the secondary characters are just as fun to have in the story.

    23. Cerian Hebert on said:

What a sweet romance with a bit of fire! Once again Callie Hutton has given us a hero and heroine who we can cheer for. A handsome duke and a beautiful, feisty young woman who isn't going to fall in line with what society expects of her. I wish it were longer!

A fun holiday romanceEnjoyable even though the premise is predictable. Just the right sort of holiday romance to complement the season although it isn't just a Christmas story. Interesting characters and just a touch of spice make this a quick satisfying read.
