18/7/2016 Read J. A. Souders' guest post about worldbuilding and enter to win the full trilogy from Tor Teen HERE Revelations was very high on my list of most coveted sequels in 2013. I was encouraged to read the first book Elysium Chronicles by some of my most trusted friends and I never regretted the decision – Elysium, the world Souders created under water, is seductive and frightening, beautiful on the outside and rotten and dangerous on the inside. In Revelations, Souders succeded in tran [...]

Six weeks have passed since Evelyn has left Elysium yet she remembers nothing of her previous life. Gavin is the only one that knew her but she can barely remember him. When she begins having nightmarish flashbacks that seem to be continuously triggered by something she can’t understand, the village doctor fears she needs to get more help than he’ll be able to give her. With the assistance of an old friend of Gavins, Asher, the three travel through the Outlands to the City in hopes that Evel [...]

*Genre* Young Adult, Dystopian, Post Apocalyptic*Rating* 3.0*MY Thoughts*So, Revelations takes place six weeks after Gavin brought Evelyn Winters out of Elysium to his village of Black Stone Cove at the end of Renegade. Although his family quickly adopted Evie as one of their own, Evie doesn't remember anything from her past and has reoccurring flashbacks that are sometimes violent in nature. Thanks to the villages doctor, it is determined that Evie and Gavin should travel to Rushlake City to se [...]

I was so disappointed. What happened? Honestly, I really enjoyed Renegade, but this? This was awful. I honestly just can't describe how bad this was.WHAT HAPPENED J.A SOUDERS? WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR SERIES?!!!! Well, what happened? Nothing. (view spoiler)[Evie needs serious help so they go to the city. On the way to the city, Gavin gets separated from Asher and Evie. Asher and Evie make it to Rushlake. They get basically no help from doctors - they just want to use her for experiments. Meanwhil [...]

I am so depressed right now. November! Fucking November! You gotta be shitting me, that's like a decade away! Between this and the prequel short story only being available on Kindle, I am so depressed I just want to go to my bed and never come out. Well, maybe I'll come out in Novemberor when I can get that prequel somewhere other than damned . *snifflesbs* I can't take the waiting!

A wonderful peek into the world topside. So curious to know what happened with the war and how the nanites were created. Loved the crazy hybrid vultures and the epilogue with Mother! Super creepy.

So when I finally got my hands on Revelations, it undoubtedly got me in a crazy fangirling fi [...]

3.5 stars Revelation, the second book in the series of Elysium Chronicles, gave in to what is known as ‘second book syndrome.’ After the intense conclusion of Renegade, my bubble of expectation for a thrilling sequel was deflated, instead I was given a story that lacks a solid plot and relevant background information of the ‘surface world’ on which Revelation is set.Six weeks after Gavin and Evie escaped underwater utopia, Evie doesn't remember anything from her past and was having menta [...]

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE FIRST BOOK OTHERWISE SPOILER FREE First off, thanks so much to Tor Teen and MacMillan Publishers for sending me an ARC of this! It’s been six weeks since the last book and Evie and Galvin are out of Elysium, an underwater utopia, and now living on the Surface. After everything, Evie doesn’t remember anything from her past and she has these episodes and sleepwalks. People think something is wrong with her so they send her to the city where more advance techno [...]

3.5- Read as digital ARC.I love reading sequels to books I loved. It's like putting on a favorite pair of boots you'd almost forgotten you had--familiar and yet new at the same time. That's what Revelations was like for me. I loved seeing characters old and new and marveled at how Evie, despite being such a sickly hallucinating hot mess in this book, is unable to be shoved in the "damsel in distress" character box because her Enforcer training will kick your butt. It's just a nice continuation t [...]

*le sigh* I didn't really enjoy this one that much. I think it was a combination of the book and me being in a bit of a reading slump. I really felt like I had to force myself to read this. This book suffers from second book syndrome in that it wasn't really needed to keep the story going along. This whole amnesia aspect was just kind of stupid. It made Evie a very whiny, aggravating, and unlikable character. She got on my nerves a lot! The whole journey to Rushlake City was questionable from th [...]

Yet again, we are left with the suspense. The ending of this book was really bewildering, it left me on the edge of a cliff. Desperately hanging on for more. Evie is not safe after all. I believe 'Mother' is starting to train a new 'Daughter of the people' again to replace Evie, this time for good. But Evie and the rest don't know that 'Mother' knows about them. Can their plan to eliminate her, succeed? Or is Mother too smart for their games? I am so INTRIGUED and I can't wait to read the next b [...]

Revelations by J. A. Souders This is a young adult novel featuring mild romance and confusing mystery. This is volume two of the Elysium Chronicles which is mild SciFi as it appears to be a post apocalypse book. I guess the confusing part is due to the lack of a back story. Evie has amnesia and thus she can’t remeber her past, sadly that lack of memory is also the reader’s problem as well. More back story would have allowed greater enjoyment of the book for those of us who have not read the [...]

I received Revelations recently from Tor and was immediately drawn to reading the synopsis based on the cover. It's colorful, interesting, and I was really hoping that it was the first book of the series. It wasn't. SO then I thought, maybe I'll try to jump in - but let me tell you, what I read from the first book had me desperately wanting to get my hands on it. So I did. I dove into Renegade that night and, upon finishing it, immediately moved on to Revelations.Read the rest of this review at [...]

This book was so wonderful. This is the second book in the Elysium Chronicols. NOrmally when you read a book series the first one is the best than the next few books in the series are not so good. But for this series it is not the case. The second book was just as good as the first book I think I even liked the second book better. I am telling everyone who loves good YA books to read this. Thanks, have a great day.

3.5 StarsAfter the insane ending of Renegade, I was totally pumped to continue on in this series, I loved everything about the first book, the terrifying world of Elysium, Mother and her villainous ways, Gavin and his hotness, everything. Revelations brought a very fun sequel to the table, with lots of questions, and of courselations. Pun intended. So let's talk about it!**Please note this a sequel, and the ending of Renegade will be mentioned**So we all know that there was a lot to learn after [...]

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Revelations is swathed in mystery and allure. Much of what made the first novel Renegade so creepily enchanting is subdued in its sequel, but it brings forth a new layer of terror—life on the Surface. Unlike the magical world of Elysium, the Surface is a scarier place for the main character Evelyn because it's unfamiliar to her. She's very much on her own journey to find herself again and put the pieces of her life back together. Gavin is a part [...]

This has been a thrilling sequel to one of my favorite dystopian reads of last year. I loved Renegade and it was so under the radar that I didn’t know its release date, which got pushed back to November last year. I was so happy when the library got this book in that I couldn’t wait to read it. It was just as fast as I remember the first book being. It was missing some of the mystery that the 1st book had, since we already found out Evie used to be an Enforcer. We do get to see what’s been [...]

(View this review on My Library in the Making.)(Spoilers if you haven't read Renegade.)Revelations isn't quite the sequel I expected it to be, which doesn't make sense at all because it's not like I knew what to expect from this. Evie being out of Elysium and up in the Surface made for one unpredictable adventure all throughout, if nothing else. It was slow to start and I had trouble staying focused initially, but once the action started, it never stopped. After suffering unknown injuries during [...]

Last year I read and fell in love with J.A Souder's debut novel, Renegade, which not only had a phenomenal cast of characters, including the super villainous Mother, but it also had a stunning and unique world-building, all of which made me restore my faith in the YA dystopian novels. So, it comes as no surprise that Revelations was one of my most anticipated sequels of this year. While Revelations did not completely live up to the brilliance of Renegade, it was still a lovely read. What made Rev [...]

So, when I got to read Revelations I was over the moon. Finally I would get to find out what would happen next between Gavin and Evie and see the outcome of their escape from Elysiu [...]

Revelations was one of my more anticipated books of 2013, since I loved Renegade so much! And with the ending of Renegade? Hell yes I wanted to get my hands on this.Diving right into the review, I found that while I did miss the world of Elysium, Mother always chasing at our characters' heels, Revelations was intriguing and chilling in it's own way--just in a different way than Renegade's.
