      On impulse, I bought an ice-cream maker over the weekend. This is the best of the three books, I got out from the library on making ice-cream. I liked the book because: the recipes have a limited number of ingredients (approx 5-7); there are metric measurements (not just ounces, quarts etc like one of the other books!); ,most recipes have a photo; it is well-laid out and easy to follow for a first time ice-cream maker with good information on how ingredients work together to make good ice-cream; [...]

      Is book contained a few recipes I would like to try here that are unique, such as Lemon Curd ice cream and Rose Petal sobet. Lots of photographs to enjoy too. This is one I would check out of the library occasionally though and have no plans to own. My favorite character was Enid, who was just so practical and had a philosophy of adapting to survive.       Cookbook. This has a really great introduction. It explains the science behind ice cream, what effect each ingredient has on the mix, the best ingredients to use, and cooking techniques. The recipes make small batches, about 2-3 cups each, and some require uncooked egg whites.
