I am giving this 5 stars in the hope that these largely forgotten books by Ethel Carnie will be rediscovered. They are a crucial part of our social history and it is unbelievable that her books have so few ratings on . She is credited as the first working class female writer and her books are very difficult to find and are also very expensive ! (blooming ). I suspect the book publishing industry may be to blame ?
