"The Book of Latina Women: 150 Vidas of Passion, Strength, and Success" (2013) by Sylvia Mendoza is an interesting piece of nonfiction. It provides short biographies about Latinas, some living, some dead, who have made significant contributions to society in fields such as education, science, entertainment, medicine, politics, etc. Certainly not an exhaustive list but very informative. A few inconsistencies in the writing and editing detracted from the flow of the material but overall an impress [...]

A great reader on a lot of Latina women. There are women from across many fields and lifestyles, ages and eras in history. The bios are short, the women are interesting, and I am happy to say I learned a lot about the women profiled. My only caveat is that this collection is not well edited. There is a lot of repetition, and sentences that end in strange ways. I think it's a great start, and there are a few women I'll add to my "badass" lot. My only wonder is how Shakira missed the list ;)

It is as it is described: a book of 150 Latina women who have been successful in their fields. The book is short. The biographies on each woman very short. It give a bit of detail of each woman and describes their inner passion and that which makes them successful or powerful. It is well presented.
