Interesting worldbuilding, and great chemistry between the two main characters. I enjoyed it.

I was really interested in this series, and thrilled to see it in audio. This is a quick story and, I hope, taste of things to come. It is a fantasy, the world isn't fully fleshed out, more of a rough idea. That is understandable because it is such a short read. I like the main character Reine, she really knows how to take care of herself. I love a girl with sass and deadly weapons. She doesn't let a smexy man walk, or kiss, all over her. Not without permission!Ennis is bold and sure of himself, [...]

Nice prequel to A Hint of Frost. This short novella tells the story of Lourdes' parents. It is just a little interlude and doesn't really set up the world building like the first novel in the series. I will definitely be reading more of these!

Honestly, so short, I do not have a lot to say.Reine has to marry. She meets a cute guy. She talks to her friend. She falls for cute guy. The end.Eh, it worked. And it was short.

I had started this story a while ago and thought spiders - yuck. And then stopped reading. But I started it again and really liked it. Short and sexy story.

If you're a fan of the Araneae Nation series, then this is a great short of the meeting of Lourdes' parents, many years before their deaths in the first book. Otherwise, it pales in comparison to the fully-fleshed out tale of the daughter.

I'm diving back into this series after reading book 1a while ago. A couple of years, at least. This was the PERFECT bite-sized morsel of a story to remind me of all the little pieces that make up the Araneae world. Some of those things being: A matriarchal society. Fangs and venom and all manner of nasty ways to die. Clan loyalty and alliances made to better their positions among the other clans.I like it. As much, if not more, than when I first dipped my toes in this world. While things move fair [...]

I really enjoy the story it was interesting. I just did not love it because of the fact they are basically spider people. I'm not a huge fan of spiders. I tried to focus on the romance but the spider aspect was disconcerting.

"4 out of 5 stars! It's a creative world with unique characters! This story gives those who are already fans of the series a chance to read about how Lourdes' (the heroine in book 1) parents met and fell in love, while giving those who have yet to read the series an intriguing glimpse into its world. I found Ennis & Reine's growing "romance/relationship" entertaining and sweet as they allow themselves to get to know one another."I read this short story as a part of "Love Is" Check out my ful [...]

This short story is a prequel in the Araneae series. Reine & Ennis are parents to Lourdes who is the heroine of book one, A Hint of Frost. A short but fun read. The story of Reine & Ennis was sweet and sexy. Ennis definitely had to work hard for Reine's hand and heart. I also enjoyed young Isolde, she's the best friend who can get you into all sorts of mischief. A must read for Araneae fans.A Heart of Ice is featured in the anthology Love Is This anthology features 40 short stories.

It functions fine, but it seems to have been a lot more meaningful for those who've already read the main series. I also go back and forth on whether or not I can get into the whole "spider" thing. I don't think it's a very sexy thing to be, but I do like the worldbuilding and culture I saw in this short story. It's probably just not my thing.

I downloaded Heart of Ice as a free novella from . I found this book available after reading A Hint of Frost- this is a prequel to the Araneae series). Unfortunately, it only reads to 70%, then gives excerpts of book 1; I enjoyed the novella and had hoped for more. A good read, and a nice peek into the relationship/courtship, of Lourdes' (the heroine of book 1) parents, Ennis and Reine.

IntriguingI have to say this style of writing usually doesn't appeal to me. The old, medieval type. But I am starting to recant that about myself. I really enjoyed this novella and look forward to continuing the series.

A real short read that ended around the 67% mark on my kindle. I enjoyed Isolde, Reine and Ennis characters but I just wished there was more story between Reine and Ennis in this novella. It was an okay read. It's a novella that felt as if it was over before the story actually began.

Yet another web binding story set in the Araneae Nation! Haily Edwards back tracks in this novella to share some light on unintentional love and the webs that bind through lifetimes.

A short little story to get me interested in the series. I'll definitely be continuing on with it to see if it keeps me interested.
