I am not the sort of person who would normally read a novel about war, the army, American politics, etc. Those things do not interest me, nor have I ever cared to know much about them. However, this book is, at its heart, about none of those things—not really—but rather about people (three men, to be precise) in the midst of absurd, yet nonetheless true circumstances going on in our modern day military. The author is a friend, and there is inevitably a loaded quality that goes along with rea [...]

This is the story of three men preparing for and serving in combat in Afghanistan, but also of the different aspects of the American soldier. If you've been in the Army, you'll recognize yourself, your friends, and those other guys who were anything but: the Blue Falcons. At times funny, at times familiar, and always stubbornly, embarrassingly, often frustratingly true, Flight of the Blue Falcon gives insight into a soldier's life that few books can. Every now and then, you read a book that strikes home so perfectly that you know you will be reading it again for the rest of your life to unearth things you missed before. I have never read a fiction book that so perfectly captures the Army experience in these modern wars. Trust me that everything in this work happens, it is the boot on the neck and the unnecessary pressure that breaks morale and seldom our enemies. If you want to understand our wars- here is your chance.
