Lacy Marie Crocker has left New Orleans to attend medical school but instead changed to studying fashion. Now returning to her home town she's opened a shop in the Garden district that mixes a bit of both of her loves, pets and fashion. Her shop features handmade outfits for all types of pets along with gourmet treats. When Lacy stumbles in on what she thinks is someone breaking into her store one night she immediately calls the police but when they arrive they find a body of a murder victim and [...]

Let's set the record straight right away: Two things are guaranteed to spike my personal barf-o-meter. First is extreme heat and humidity; when the temperature turns upwards of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, I turn into a shrew. Second is dressing animals in human-like clothing (well, make that any kind of clothing). Never once has a bonnet or ruffled collar come anywhere near any of my furry darlings. So given that this book is set in New Orleans, where 95 degrees signals a cool-down, and the main chara [...]

She bakes up tasty treats for pets too. She has the purrfect opportunity to show off her talents at the Animal Elegance Gala, but before that happens one of the tools of her trade connects with a man’s head. I finished a brilliant cozy last night! Cat Got Your Diamonds by Julie Chase which was such a great read I could not put it down, read the entire thing, laughing, crying and thoroughly enjoying this new cozy. This book read so well, reminding me of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, I loved the relationship between the main character Lacy and detective Jack Oliver. I don't want to give too much of the story away however the writing reminds me of why I love cozies in the first place. The book rem [...]

A strong start to a new series. The setting was wonderful, and I can see it staying interesting since New Orleans is so full of personality. The mystery itself was interesting with a nice twist to it. I can't wait to read the next book.

The thing that sets cozy mysteries apart are the personalities of the charactersd there are A LOT of coziness out there my delight in Ms Chase's story was that Lacy, especially, but all the characters in this book had personalities that are huge, most were absolutely hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud over a simple dialog between Lacy and Jacke delivery was priceless:“What are you baking?”“First, six dozen canine carrot cakes for Happy Tails Day Spa. They’re doing a fundraiser i [...]

Cat Got Your Diamonds is a lot of fun! And it has a hunky detective. And the potential for some great swoonilicious romance on the horizon. Even just the hints we get as attraction sizzles and sparks between Jack and Lacy during this novel had me reaching for my fan a few times. Seriously the most chemistry I’ve read in a while that doesn’t end in a liplock! But this IS a mystery, isn’t it? So I should probably talk about that too lol. Cat Got Your Diamonds is a great blend of amateur sleut [...]

I'm in love with this series already! Lacy is from an affluent family in the New Orleans Garden District but she doesn't act like it. She is very down-to-earth and her character has been written wonderfully. She has the opportunity to never want for anything but she wants to make her own way in the world. Instead of falling back on family money, she works hard to get through college and start her own business - a pet boutique. When a shady character strolls through her door, comes back later and [...]

This is the first in the series, Kitty Couture mysteries, by Julie Chase. I found it to be an enjoyable flowing read that often had me smiling. I enjoy reading a lot cat mysteries but have never read one that had a pet sop which catered to dressing them in fancy attire. The author used two things that are of great interest to her, fashion and pets. I had a feeling who killed the man who broke into the shop.I hope in the next book of the series our heroine does something about her triangle romanc [...]

How can you not smile while reading about pampered pets wearing bedazzled outfits? Add a bunch of quirky characters and a mystery to solve, and you have a lighthearted, entertaining story that kept me happily engrossed. In general terms, this is a formulaic cozy mystery. At the center we have the innocent woman who, for personal reasons, sets out to solve the crime. We have the hot male detective torn between frustration and attraction. We have another hot male who is also attracted to the femal [...]

I really liked setting for this story and the author does a good job of describing the town. I instantly fell in love with the characters and couldn't put the book down. The mystery is really good and I must say I was a bit surprised at who the killer was. The story is funny at times and really moves along at a nice pace. Lacy has come home and opened her dream shop called Furry Godmother. I loved the name of her boutique and it added charm to the story. She is really good at making decadent tre [...]

A great start to a new mystery series!I've read several of this author's books and truly enjoyed them so wanted to see how this new series would compare. Very enjoyable! Lacy is a strong woman back home in New Orleans and running a couture and bakery for pets called Furry Godmother (love the name!). This is a big business so she should do well. And of course outfitting Llamas, cats, dogs, and other animals just adds to the quirkiness of the characters. I could just imagine some of these animals [...]

Haute couture, hot jewels, a hot setting and great chemistry make this zany mystery an absolute winner in my book.  Even if you aren’t an animal lover, if you love cozies Cat Got Your Diamonds is certain to delight - especially if you enjoy old-style screwball comedies.  Lacy is wonderfully odd, energetically throwing herself into her pet couture business and later her murder investigation.  The antics of the highly competitive New Orleans socialites, all devoted to their respective animal [...]

What's not to love about this story? You get the fabulous setting of New Orleans, with all its culture and history, plus a main character who runs a pet boutique and bakery. This is a new pet cozy series (Kitty Couture Mystery) that's title is a little misleading. Lacy has returned to New Orleans to open a pet shop specializing in homemade treats and costumes. Very fun clever little mystery book. The descriptions of the Furry Godmother shop as well as the humidity in the air in New Orleans were so believable that I felt at several times that I was actually there. The book actually made me wish that there was a store like that up here where I live! ☺ The main character was very endearing and quite precocious. The only critique that I have is that her age -- 30 years old did not seem very believable to me. Her disregard for her own safety and not real [...]
