One of my favorite stories that I grew up hearing a lot. From this story, children could learn that trespassing and stealing are not okay. Children will like the idea that the bears can talk.

The Goldilocks story in the book, A treasury of bedtimes story, was very entertaining. I like the illustrations because they look kind of old-school in watercolor. Jane Jerrard did a great job overall. She makes sure to keep the kids hooked until the end by setting up different mysteries with the bears. If I was to read this in a classroom I would wear a red cape to get the kids excited about the story.

One day for breakfast mama bear makes porridge that is too hot so they go for a walk to let it cool down. While they are gone Goldilocks she helped herself to their porridge, their chairs, and their beds. She didn't do this without testing each one first. Too hard, too soft, just right. Then the bears come home to see that things aren't quite right. The bears went upstairs frightened that girl and she ran off.

Goldilocks goes to a house one day because she is hungry. When she gets there she sees a big bowel of soup, a medium sized bowl and a small bowl. After trying all of them, she decides that the small bowl is the best. She does the same thing when trying to find a chair to sit on and a bed to sleep in. After being woke up by 3 bears she realizes she is in there house and runs away.

Goldilocks is a good story for kids because it teaches them to always knock, and if there is no answer to go about your business, and not enter the house. It is especially helpful for children because it teaches them to respect others' property.

Traditional Literature 8Goldilocks and the Three Bears follows the classic tale of Goldilocks happening into the Three Bears house, eating the porridge, breaking the little bears chair, and sleeping in the Little Bears bed while they are out in the books.

I like this version of the fairy tale because the description of the beds is different. Instead of "too hard/soft" they are described as "too hight at the head/foot", and although it's a small detail, I like the variation.
