THE LIES WITHIN by bestselling author Jane Isaac is the third DI Will Jackman Crime Thriller. I have read and loved her previous books in the series: Before It’s Too Late (Book 1) and Beneath the Ashes (Book 2), and this is another winner! I literally did not want this book to end. I highly recommend reading all three books but I advise they be read in order to fully appreciate the ongoing character development, though the plots are standalones. This is a series I plan to read future novels in [...]

**Thank you to Legend Press and Netgalley for sending me an ARC of the book in return for an honest review.4 stars!!!I thought that the premise for this novel was pretty simple but was delivered brilliantly. Considering the last book I read wasn't the thriller I was expecting, this was wonderfully refreshing. The author has managed to weave a tightly knitted tale of murder interspersed with family dynamics, grief, betrayal, secrets and so on.The story is told from the POV of Grace and we see how [...]

Grace is contacted by DI Will Jackman and told her oldest daughter has been assaulted and strangled. Deeply upset and overwrought, she starts losing her hold on reality. Grace has run into an old school friend, Faye, although Grace doesn't remember her at all.Faye becomes her best friend, the one person she can talk to without being told that she needs to move on. But who exactly is Faye? That becomes a real question when Faye more or less seems to take over Grace's life. Grace's husband and youn [...]

I love this series. And I love Will Jackman. He's not your usual run of the mill hard cop. I've got to know him quite well. He's trying to solve this particular case when there are 9 years separating this particular case that seems to have a connection with the past one. It's a snappy fast paced read which I thoroughly took to heart and enjoyed.I would like to thank Lucy PA for sending me an advanced copy as a gift. She knows I'm a huge fan of this authors books.

4.5/5This is the third book in a series but I jumped in here with no issues whatsoever. Isaac provided enough pertinent background information concerning Jackman’s personal life that I felt I had a firm grasp on what type of man he is. It seems he’s had a rough time as of late and my heart truly went out to him, he was one of those characters that I warmed to almost instantly. It opened with a very strong prologue as Grace is on trial for murder, then it jumps back to ten months before. Grac [...]

I would like to thank Netgalley and Legend Press for an advance copy of The Lies Within, the third Midlands based police procedural to feature DI Will Jackman. The novel opens with Grace Daniels being tried for murder then flashes back 10 months to the start of the case. Acting DCI Will Jackman is bored as he's on special projects visiting neighbouring forces and reviewing outstanding cases of adult sexual offences. While in Leicestershire he is called out to a sexual assault and murder and jumps [...]

I love this series that features DI Jackman. He's the kind of detective that you would always want rooting in your corner.Grace Daniels is left distraught when her daughter's body is found naked in a quiet country lane. With everything going wrong around her she finds comfort when a friend from the past. This book is slightly different from the previous novels in that it features rather heavily on Grace's character and how she deals with the aftermath of such a tragedy. The book is very cleverly [...]

YES! *SCREAMS* Jane Isaac’s rather dashing policeman, who has the saddest personal life is back. The Lies Within is the third instalment of the rather excellent DI Will Jackman series! In my opinion, it is the BEST to date. I urge you to devour the whole series. It all starts at the trial of Grace Daniels. She is a mother and grandmother. An upstanding citizen or is she? This is a woman who does not appear evil. She has been accused of murder. How did she get here? Is she guilty or is this anot [...]

I really enjoyed Beneath The Ashes so as soon as The Lies Within became available for review I was eager to get back into Jane Isaac’s work. The Lies Within is a dark and gritty police procedural with psychological drama/thriller elements. Grace’s loss had my stomach in knots and JI captured the emotion, confusion, grief, anxiety and irrationality of losing a child with chilling accuracy. It was good to be back with DI Jackman, his life is still as complicated as ever and he still throws him [...]

‘The Lies Within’ by Jane IsaacPublished by Legend Press, 2 May 2017. ISBN: 978-1-78507-927-6I have never been a fan of ‘the Prologue’. However, this is the exception, as it opens with a statement made in Criminal Court 3, Leicester Crown Court, by barrister, James Sheldon. His words are chilling as he draws the jury attention to Grace Daniels. ‘This woman is guilty of murder. And by the time this trial has finished, you will be in no doubt that she should go to prison for life’. In [...]

Magnificent!! My View:This is a book that will have you putting the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the front door so you can sit and indulge in this fantastic read. I love this series. Masterful plotting, three dimensional characters. A protagonist who isn’t an addict, or a womaniser or damaged – but he does have a tragic personal back story – which he deals with. Refreshing isn’t it?If you haven’t read any of this series before I suggest you get all three book and treat yourself to a lo [...]

This is the third in a series I haven't read before. The story line is based on DI Jackman solving the murder and sexual assault of three young women over a span of years. The most recent case is the one with the most emphasis and characterization. The plot doesn't flow well between the procedural portions and the family of the victim parts. There is very little information about the background of Jackman which may be information provided on previous books. The character development really focus [...]

The Lies Within by Jane Isaac is the third in the DI Will Jackman series by Jane Isaac, and I enjoyed it as much or more than the previous books. Isaac manages to write intriguing police procedurals that keeping me engaged with her characters as I try to determine the what, why, and who of the mystery. The prologue is a trial scene in the present, but Chapter One flashes back about 10 months. This is book three of what is swiftly becoming one of my favourite series, the main character probably being my favourite male cop. I said in my reviews for books one and two that I made a good connection with Will Jackman very early on and that relationship is still blossoming. He's not your stereotypical damaged cop, no alcohol addiction and not a womaniser. He does have his crosses to bear which mark him as a little bit damaged but not in the same way as many in his field. When we start this [...]

**4.5 stars out of 5** The opening chapter takes you right to the heart of the story. You’re immediately thrown into a courtroom scene where Grace Daniels, a mother and wife is on trial for murder. “Be under no illusions by her kind face and eloquent manner… This woman is guilty of murder”. My curiosity was immediately piqued. Grace came across as a normal, everyday person – not a psychopath (not that psychopaths are normally easy to spot, this I have learnt from being an avid crime re [...]

Well it's been a while since I read a book in a day, but I couldn't tear myself away from this once I got a couple of chapters in. I have read the previous Will Jackman books and think he is a great character and this book has cemented that opinion. I was also relieved that Davies made an appearance in this one too. This was cleverly plotted and although I had a nagging feeling about who committed the murders I was still surprised and a bit shocked at the reveal. This series is getting better boo [...]

This book was a slow starter for me, but the story certainly picked up later. I really like this series, I like Will and the way he works. This novel is a bit different than the usual police procedurals. There is murder of course, but there's no progress on the case and it becomes cold. In this book, the story actually focuses more on the family of the murdered girl and there are a few twists and turns. I very much enjoyed this departure from the norm.I look forward to the next book in the serie [...]

The Lies Within is Jane’s third Will Jackman book, and the second book I’ve read this year with a location I’m very familiar with. This time it’s Market HarboroughThe book starts with a brief prologue, showing Grace Daniels, on trial for murder, her family watching on from the gallery. We’re then taken back 10 months to find Will Jackman, who has a temporary promotion to Chief Inspector. Jackman finds himself seconded from his usual Stratford-upon-Avon base and working for the region, [...]

‘The Lies Within’ is the 3rd book in the DI Will Jackman Series by Jane Isaac. The book is about Grace Daniels, whose daughter has been found dead. During the course of investigation, there is another murder which solves the previous mystery but brings Grace in the spotlight. Dealing with multiple murders at a time, with characters emerging from the past, ‘The Lies Within’ is an unputdownable book.*In BriefGrace is shattered after her daughter, Jo, is found dead. 3.5 stars - The Lies Within is my favourite book in this series so far! Before I talk in detail about this particular book, I would like to mention the consistency Isaac has shown throughout this series. Each book is of a steady pace, more mystery than thriller, the content is never too graphic, with a strong focus on the police proceedings – so if you’ve enjoyed any of the books in this series, it’s likely you’ll enjoy them all. You become familiar with the characters, there’s no one [...]

This is the third in Jane Isaac’s series starring DI Will Jackman and she continues her well-developed writing style with yet another intriguing and cleverly written plot. You should be hooked from the beginning of the book as her character Jackman just keeps getting better the more she writes. Her series is only getting better with each book as evidence by the storyline in this one which was starting to feel a bit predictable but…One of the things I liked about this novel is that even when i [...]

Grace Daniels is on trial for murder in the opening chapter of the 3rd DI Will Jackson book, a series that's one of my favorites. We go back in time to the murder and rape of Grace Daniels' daughter, veering between Grace's total emotional shutdown and Will's unrelenting work on the case. Grace is barely functioning, her grief is so deep even her family can't reach her through the fog of pain and tears. Police procedurals are somewhat outside my normal genre choices, but when Netgalley offered the latest Jane Isaac, I couldn't not jump at the opportunity. I've read two other stories by this author, and this one shows her ongoing development as a writer. The moody imagery woven throughout the story hearkening to a boat adrift on stormy waters underlined the tension that built slowly at first as seemingly disparate threads laid down the beginning of the story. The choice to show how interdepartme [...]

I have yet to read a book of Isaac's that I haven't enjoyed and like the others, this book was also a little corker that had me gripped from start to finish. I did find some of the plot predictable, including the ending though, which is the reason for the four, rather than five stars. I enjoyed the court room drama element to the story, which took the reader away fom the usual formulaic crime thriller that other authors so often adhere to. All in all a very good read that I would definitely reco [...]

Received in a giveaway. This was well written and easy to read however a tad on the predictable side. Characters were well formed but i guessed the killer early on. I could not have guessed the outcome overall however the final, final ending was a little to tidy. There is a slow build up in this tale; little too slow for my liking however it was well enough written to keep me reading!

Jane Isaac's power lies in her assured storytelling, the ability to build suspense and her depth of knowledge not only about police and legal procedures but also about people and understanding them. The Lies Within – Jane IsaacThis is the third in the series of books about DCI Jackman. It can be read without having read the others. It starts off as a fairly standard ‘who-dunit’ with a girl’s murdered body being found. If you like police procedure books, you will enjoy this as it is well written. There are some good back stories and sub-plots. About a third of the way through the book, the grieving mother of the murdered girl meets an old school mate who is very supportive and kind. [...]
