This is the first book I have read by Marianne Rice and it won't be the last. I loved this heartwarming but emotional read. This is Rachael's story. Rachael has returned home after coming out of an bad relationship, she changed and now she wants the old Rachael back. When her sister Lucy sign her up for self defence classes, Rachael is a little unsure but this is where she meets Jake. There is something about Rachael that catch's Jake's eye. Jake also has a past and issues that he is still detail [...]

Rachael, a year after returning home, is taking back her life. She wasted too many years, and tears, and she's ready to move forward. In her younger sister, Lucy's, opinion, that means self-defense classes. Rachael has to admit she could've used the knowledge when dealing with her ex, Dylan, and the abuse she'd lived with for five years. Surprisingly, the big man preparing to teach the class doesn't scare her at all. Maybe she's too mesmerized by his looks and deep voice?Jake, a volunteer teache [...]

Strawberry Kisses is the second standalone in the Rocky Harbor Series. Like book one (Staying Grounded), it's a heartwarming (and sometimes heartbreaking) story; the emotional journey of two damaged souls desperate to feel whole again. Rachael Riley is silently dealing with the haunting aftermath of an abusive relationship and years of estrangement from her adoptive family. Having returned to Rocky Harbor a shadow of her former self, she longs to regain the confidence she desperately needs to de [...]

I voluntarily reviewed this book.Rachel Riley returns to her loving adopted family after escaping an abusive relationship. She meets sexy landscaper Jake Morgan when she is reluctantly dragged to a self defence class. Jake is a bad boy turned good but just as Rachel begins to feel comfortable with him, secrets start to emerge.I loved how the author included characters from previous books into this sweet/sexy romance. She includes a twist that I really didn't see coming! A satisfying HEA complete [...]

This is my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. I liked this book and the people. They are a very different group of individuals, but they are great, and I liked them all. The author drew me in and I felt like I was right there in this little coastal town in Maine. I loved the sense of family and how the Riley family came to be. A true testament to love and compassion. Rachael Riley has been home now for a year and is trying to get back-back to the person she used to be. Her sist [...]

In the last month, I've read this book twice! It's another amazing Riley family story set in the charming New England town of Rocky Harbor. Rachael is the stoic sister in the family. As with the other children in the family, Rachael was adopted. She was eight when she came to live with the family. The abuse and neglect she suffered as a young child has made her put her guard up. Living with the family had given her new hope, though. She blossoms with the Rileys and becomes a strong woman. When s [...]

Im going to get personal here. This book made me cry, more than once. It brought up issues that are very real to me. And then added some more. Rachael  is trying to get her life back on track after an abusive relationship has her trying to find herself again. While working in getting herself out there buisness wise, her sister drags her to a self defense class, where she learns more than one lesson. Jake has a past that he can't let go. Filled with guilt over things he can't change he struggles [...]

Marianne Rice is quickly becoming a must-bye author. This book, Strawberry Kisses, has become my favorite so far. I had met Rachel, the abused, reclusive sister in a previous book and was so curious as to her story. The way Rice wrote this book was perfect. It was very believable and I love how she had the characters take their time with each other and not just jump into bed on day 2. This book was about the relationship and building trust again and how family can be a great support system. If y [...]

Marianne Rice doesn't disappoint in this poignant story of a woman who has come home, a shell of her former self. And the man that finds himself determined to bring her out of her shell and teach her that love is not the tragedy she has come to believe it is. As Rachel opens her heart to Jake, she discovers he has scars of his own. And while he may think love heals all wounds, she's afraid some wounds may run too deep.

Do NOT under any circumstance read this book while you are hungry!Rachel Riley has had a tough time. After escaping a toxic relationship with the help of her somewhat overprotective family, she's starting again. Determined to get her life back, Rachel follows her passion and starts baking again. Eclairs, brownies and blueberry muffins have her in high demand.Jake Morgan is trying to become the man he thinks he should be. After living a less than respectable teen years he's starting over. So when [...]

Marianne Rice was a new author to me when I read STRAWBERRY KISSES. But not any longer. I am going to go buy her back list as soon as I finish this review.Rachel RIley is a suvivior. Abandoned by her mother at the age of 8, she was adopted into the Riley family and knew stability for the first time in her life. When she leaves home to follow the boy she thought she would love forever, she's unprepared for the emotional and physical abuse he wrecks on her and it takes her five long years to break [...]

I really enjoyed Strawberry Kisses. Rachael and Jake are so different from each other but they complement one another so well. Rachael regains her emotional health over the course of the book. It's always nice to see that occur in someone who has been stripped of their self-worth. While Jake needs to come to terms with his past, he caused his own problems and I didn't feel as sympathetic towards him. Having said that, I think Jake was a good man and very romantic. The story is well-written, the c [...]
