"This wordy dissertation, we have both just waded through, has been merely my effort to persuade you, alright manipulate you, into making a paper chain."This pretty much sums up this book. It is very wordy and takes a long time to get to the point. The reader is left feeling like they have been approached by a random talkative stranger at a party who doesn't stop talking long enough for you to make an excuse about needing the bathroom in the hope that there may be a window you can climb out of t [...]

Working out what matters to youThe tongue-in-cheek humour is evident from the first chapter as the author guides the reader through an imaginary bookstore to the overcrowded self-help section and loudly proclaims in the next chapter that he doesn’t have the help you are looking for (hence the title of the book). He doesn’t have all the answers for you, but suggests that you look inside yourself for your own answers. Then he gets to the gist of helping yourself – defining your wants, needs [...]

I actually enjoyed reading this book. It put quite a smile on my face as I read through each chapter. His journey on the "self help" is rather interesting. While this was my first self help book that I read it was rather amusing with the writer's charming personality. Taking a journey back to earlier years when life didn't hit me or anyone else that hard did make life more fun. The best thing I got from this book was to understand that we are stopping ourselves from achieving what we want. His t [...]

If you take the time to do the exercise the author suggests, I believe it could be helpful to those who need the boost to stop procrastinating and do things they often dreamed of doing. The restrained elephant analogy was very good. The too often quirky wittiness was not inspiring to me, and it gave the appearance that it was added just to lengthen the book.

"Self Help Because I don't have a clue how to" by Michael R. Hopson, was actuallyry helpful. Although he presented it in a very humorous way, the lesson taught was quite good. I think this book really will help some people. So, if you are willing to break the chains that bind you. read this book! I highly recommend this book. Well done, Mr. Hopson.

Useful ToolI love how this short book is written in a fun, conversational tone. It’s nice to know a person can feel something so passionately that they take the time to write a plucky story to keep the reader engaged while also learning a valuable life lesson. Thanks for the reminder!

Meandering prose with little pointI skipped around a lot. I mean a lot. Nothing caught my attention and what usually did were grammar mistakes and strange quirks about the writer's style. The size is right, the content is not.
