This is a fun enough children's book with charmingly expressive detailed line drawings that I was mildly disappointed when it ended. Flatfoot Fox, the detective, is asked to find the thief of a glass eye, stolen at Big Mean Fat Cat's birthday party, so the fox sets out with his straight-man associate Secretary Bird to interview the various suspects. It's not a great mystery story - the deduction is suspect, even though it turns out to be correct - but I love well-illustrated stories like this on [...]

I don't mind a book being predictable. It's even an asset when you have struggling readers in your book group. But it doesn't even explain WHY the guilty party stole the glass eye, well, that is just uncool. One of my kiddos closed the book and immediately asked for the sequel, so I guess that means something least to a 9 year old.

Flatfoot Fox is a great series for those readers who like a good pun and some great alliteration. But I must warn you there will not be that big of a word in the whole series. Some very funny cases come to this very clever fox and he solved them all.Reviewed by: Susan Pinkowski, Youth Services, Vernon Area Public Library

I really enjoyed this book. The characters all have silly names to match their personalities with fun pictures that show why the characters have these names. Money young kids are into detective stories and finding clues. This story is perfect to spark their imagination and make a mystery humorous.
