      I recently read some of my work at a National Poetry month event. The event was probably overbooked, containing more poets than most people would be able to absorb readily. Of the 18 poets I listened to Colen really stood out from the crowd, and I quietly snapped up a copy of this book after the event was over.       One of the most hauntingly enjoyable books I've read in the past ten years. Elizabeth Colen gets under my skin the way no other poet does. The best thing is that these poems return to me again and again, sometimes when I'm thinking of anything but poetry. This is a collection to have on your shelf, to take off your shelf, and to give as a gift.

      A great mix of danger and sex -- although I have bemoaned the fact that I don't understand the prose poem, that fact did not stop me from enjoying this fantastic collection.
